Thank you for your interest in booking a photo session! When you book a session with me, you know you'll receive beautiful, top-quality photos of your favorite companion, memories that will last you a lifetime. This guide will tell you what to expect before, during, and after your cat's photo session. If you have additional questions not answered in this guide, please don't hesitate to get in touch! I'm happy to shed some cat hair – I mean, some light! ;)     -Erica

1. Booking - Book your session by setting up a date and time and paying your deposit! You'll receive a quick guide to preparing for your cat's shoot, and I'll send you an email reminder the day before the session.

2. The Session - This is where the magic happens! Photographing your cat will take 1-2 hours, depending on your kitty's modeling experience and temperament. The remaining balance of your session is due on this date.

3. Receiving your photos - The best part! You'll receive a download-able folder of your cat's fully-edited photos - Yay! For shoots within Los Angeles, you will receive your photos within 2-4 weeks of your cat's session. (For shoots in other cities or countries, the wait time may be a bit longer depending on travel dates.)

The big question: What's the secret? How the heck do you get cats to cooperate?
Cats aren't exactly known for their obedience and cooperation...But that doesn't mean I can't work with them to get a great photo! I use a combination of trust building and play, and if necessary, a variety of herbs and treats. The trick is understanding their body language and finding out what works best for each individual cat, skills I've honed over years of handling and photographing thousands of cats in their homes and in shelter environments. I'm a firm believer that every cat is a star, just waiting to be discovered!

→ So how much does a session cost? What methods of payment are accepted?
Feline photo sessions are $350, for one cat or many! You will receive at least 40-50 professionally edited digital images, and you'll have the option to order prints and other custom items as well.

A $50 deposit is required to hold an appointment, which is applied to the cost of your session. This deposit is payable via PayPal or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover), and you're welcome to pay the balance of your session with Paypal, credit card, or good ol' cash.

Travel is always included for sessions scheduled within Los Angeles proper, or when I'm exclusively booking remotely. (During a trip to New York, for example!) For other locations, the travel fee begins at $25, but if you refer a friend to book a session in the same area, I can lower or even waive any travel fees!

Deposit and travel fee are due at the time of booking, with the balance of your session due on the day of your cat's shoot.

→ How long is a session?
Each cat's session begins with a warm-up period of about 15 minutes, then the total length of the shoot will range from 1-2 hours, depending on your kitty's modeling experience and temperament. (And additional cats can sometimes add a little bit more!)

→ Where does the session take place?
The session will take place at the location of your choice! As cats are usually most comfortable in their own home, shooting in your home is typically best. Backyards or patio gardens also can work great if your cat is used to spending time in these areas!

I'm based in Los Angeles, California, but I travel elsewhere frequently. If you are located outside of the LA area, you can check out my upcoming travel dates by clicking HERE.

→ How do I prepare for my cat's session?
Since every cat and every home are different, this can vary! You'll receive a quick guide to preparing for your cat's shoot, but generally there's not too much to do, don't worry!

→ What if I want more than digital photos?
Of course you do! Beautiful portraits of cats look fantastic in any cat lover's home! There are a number of options for prints and other items, all of which make great keepsakes and gifts. When you receive your digital photos, I'll also send you a link to the Custom Print Shop, where you can place an order at any time.

→ Do you photograph pets other than cats? Can I be in the photos?
Yes and yes! My specialty is cats, but I love photographing humans and animals of all types. I'm happy to capture the personality of your dog, rabbit, rat, lizard, or any other pet. If you're interested in a session that includes both you AND your pet, or a non-feline pet, please let me know what you have in mind, and we can discuss the additional fee!

→ What is your cancellation policy?
If you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment, I'm happy to accommodate your needs! Please get in touch to make changes as soon as possible, as your deposit and travel fee are forfeited for appointments canceled with less than 72 hours notice.
